'Groeipijn' (/ the ache of growing) is an abstract translation of the journey towards womanhood as a woman of colour in the Dutch context. The fim explores the delicacy of family dynamics and its impact on personal growth. On a quest to finding a way to break the pattern of dysfunctionality generation on generation, the film deals with racism and selfpreservation.
Directed by Ashley Röttjers, shot by Sami El Hassani, co-directed and produced by Tayo Rapoport, styled by Agnes Montecinos Muñoz, choreography by Heelin Altiner and danced by Chanel Vyent, Jo-anne Bakboord.
